Our caretaker will gladly pick you up at the local airport should you fly commercial or private aircraft. It is a 15 minute drive from airport to our launch site. Please let us know ahead of time and we will be there to meet you upon landing. Cape Air is the only major carrier at the Adirondack Regional Airport located in Lake Clear. The smaller Lake Placid Airport is about 30 minutes drive to the east.
Rental cars are available at the Saranac Lake Airport (Hertz) or from other rental agencies nearby. They have everything from small cars to Chevy Suburbans at reasonable rates. We may be able to provide you with a ride in our Suburban, but having your own car or a rental car would give you the maximum flexibility, twenty-four hours a day.
The Adirondack Great Camps built in the late 1800's and early 1900's were rustic but elegant homes owned by America's most well heeled individuals. No expense was too great though many of these "vacation cottages" were used only a few weeks each summer. It was a place for the very wealthy and their friends to get away from the hectic pace of the cities.
Many of these people lived quietly amongst the forest while loons made their mournful cries and wind whistled softly through the giant pines. Some entertained lavishly but in a soft gracious style.
